Department of Chemistry

Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College started functioning from June 1965 as a coeducational Institution. Since very inception of the department with the affiliation of teaching undergraduate (pass) course in Science of Calcutta University in the session 1968-1969, we have been striving for upgradation of the department. In the process, we have been able to win over the approval of Calcutta University of introducing the Honours Course from the session 1991-1992. We are moving forward with utmost effort for improvement imparting standard and quality teaching. In this regard, our college authority has extended its full cooperation.

Now in our journey to achieving excellence in academic attainment, we have been able to introduce M.Sc, Course in Chemistry under Distance Education under Madurai Kamraj University, which we consider a recognition of high and rare degree for us.

We undertake to upgrade teaching standard by participating in various programmes like Orientation Course, Refresher Course, Workshops, Symposia etc. The department has a seminar library for the use of the teachers and the students of the department. It contains a total number of 558 books of which 228 are text and 330 are reference books.
