Department Of Computer Science

Calcutta University extended the affiliation for Honours and General degree courses in Computer Science at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College from the academic session 2001-2002. At present, the intake capacities for each of the courses are 20 students. The first batch passed in both the Honours and General examinations at the University level with fairly satisfactory results. The department can boast of a good laboratory with A.C. facility, with 21 computers in an area of around 400 sq. ft. All the computers are networked together. The department also has a storeroom with an area of around 60 sq. ft. The department has printers, scanner and necessary multimedia kits used for various purposes. It also has an Internet Connection.

Achievements Of The Department  

From the year 2004, the department has been selected by the Calcutta University as one of the University Practical Examination Centres.

The College Website has been designed by the students of this department.

The students of this department, as part of ‘USHASI' have participated in various scientific awareness programs and seminars.

Final year students are being recruited by the Software majors.

Future Aim Of The Department

To design and develop totally computerized MIS and Library Information System for Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College.

To allocate industry related projects to the students.

To make students aware of the present computer industry.

To arrange student seminars on the current topics.
