Department Of Mathematics

The history of the Department of Mathematics of Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College dates as far back as the year 1969. The under-graduate course in B.A.,/B.Sc (Pass Course) begins in this college in the year 1969 on receiving the affiliation of the course from Calcutta University , with Mathematics as a compulsory subject in B.Sc Pass Course.

A large number of students passed B.Sc from this college with Mathematics as a principal subject during the last thirty years 1969-'99. In the year 1999, the college obtained an extension of affiliation from pass course to Honours course in Mathematics. We have presently, five faculty members. The results of the last two years of B.Sc Part-I (Hons.), Part-II (Hons.) Examination is satisfactory.

The college library is well-equipped with necessary books in Mathematics for the students are also for the teachers. The department has also a departmental library. The department takes up weekly test regularly, specially for the Honours students. The department also organizes seminars in Mathematics, the students being the main speakers on different topics, pre-assigned to them by the faculty members. The students and teachers of the department have a good relationship.
