NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) : COMITY OF COMMUNITIES IN NATION  BUILDING
National Service Scheme germinated in our college as a small experiment in August, 2008, and swelled to 3 units within a short span 4 months of concerted and hectic activity in the college. The coming into existence of 3 units even during the infancy of the NSS in the college has drawn generous appreciation from all quarters, particularly Sri Nitish Biswas, who is the Dy. Registrar and the Programme Co-ordinator, NSS, Calcutta University and Sri Kunal Chatterjee, Programme Officer, Calcutta University. Starting with a low key affair by initiating its first orientation and sensitization programme on 10th September, 2008, the college has witnessed a surge in the participation of students in the community service programmes organized by the NSS.

Special Camp - Inaugural Ceremony

The special camp organized in unison by the three units of Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College, Kolkata, was kicked off, at an Inauguration Ceremony, which was well attended by distinguished guests and members of the National Service Scheme Units, Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College. The zeal associated with the volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in the college, on the occasion, was exemplary and does justice to the objective of the NSS promoted under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The NSS units of the College spelt out their programme for the Special Camp spanning over 10 days and covering U.K. Mondal Lane, Prince Rahamuddin Lane and Biswas Para Lane, all within Ward No. 89, Kolkata - 30.
The NSS programme which has been conceived to increase social awareness and pro-active responsibility in respect of various aspects of our social existence, including the strengthening of the social fabric by way of encouraging the spirit of mutual co-operation amongst the denizens and addressing not only strictly social issues but also health and hygiene, adult literacy and working towards dispelling superstitious beliefs and other inhibitions, which contribute to the holding back of the progress of the society as a whole.
