The College being founded in 1965, the two sections (viz. Day and Evening) began from the very first session (starting from 14 th July, 1965 ). The Department of Commerce made the debutant representation with almost 450 students (Pre-University and B.Com. Pass level). The department was proud to have the affiliation for delivering B.Com (Hons.) from 1984. Till now the department can boast of producing alumni as several successful teachers in different under-graduate colleges in India . Quite a good number of the alumni are successful, practising as leading Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants and Business Executives in several prestigious companies in India as well as abroad.

This department has pioneered in having a huge departmental library by way of generous donations and gifts (almost 550 books) from existing as well as retired teachers of this department. We are also providing time and effort (beyond the prescribed college schedule) for our poor and needy students to help them reach a better result.We have a good track record in University Examination (passing rate reaching almost 100%) and very soon we hope to make it a consistent 100%. The department is studded with Academics and Professionals also. At present we have nine teachers of whom four are whole-time teachers and five are part-time faculties.
