Library Rules



By getting oneself admitted as regular student to the college one acquires the right to enjoy the library facilities subject to the prescribed rules and regulations for students.


Every Honours student will be given two (2) library cards and every General student will be given one (1) library card from the library only after they place their admission fee receipt to the library staff.



 Home Issue Card    

  For Honours Students : Two books for 10 days. (may be renewed for next 10 days only)  


For General Students :



One Book for 10 days. (may be renewed for next 10 days only)


 Reading Room Card    

With the reading room card any student can take books and read it in the Reading Room.




Monday to Friday: Library Opens on 10-30 A.M. and closes on 5:30 P.M.

Saturday : Library opens on 10:30 A.M. and closes on 1:30 P.M..

No issue or return of books on Saturdays.


Book Selection Time: (Open access for students) One student at a time can go to the book stock and choose book on their own between 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.


Book Issue Time : 2 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. (Monday to Friday)


Book Return Time : 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. (Monday - Friday)

Reading Room Time : Reading room facility will be available from 11:30 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Monday to Friday and 11:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Saturdays.




Defaulter failing to return the borrowed books within the stipulated period are liable to be charged @ Rs. 1 (one) per day.




The Library has introduced the open access system for the convenience of students. A photocopier machine and internet services are available in the Library. Internet accessibility is also available in the Library.


Any student member, regular or casual, is allowed to use the entire stock of the library including Periodicals (kept in the library) in the library room, but he/she will not to be issued to any user more than three volumes at a time. Each student deserves the right to use the reading room through his/her course of studies in the college, provided he/she observes proper discipline and maintains academic attitude. Members will not be allowed to take issued books for use in the reading room.



Books are issued only to bonafide students of the college whose names appear in the class register.


Borrowing Limit: Each member of this section is allowed to borrow a single volume at a time out of the entire stock of this section. However a student of Honours class may enjoy the right to borrow two books at a time from this section on recommendation of the subject teacher and subject to existing rules of the library provided he/she deposits an additional charge equivalent to the cost of the book.


Reserved & Rare Books: Books reserved for Reading Room use and rare and reference book will not be issued to any student member.


Book Return & Defaulter: A book once issued is to be returned within the date stamped on the due slip attached to that particular volume. A defaulter failing to return the borrowed books within the stipulated period are liable to be charged a fine at the usual rate as will be fixed by the authority from time to time.


Library Clearance Certificate: Each regular student will be required to take library clearance certificate positively, by clearing all dues to the library before filling in the application form for the University final examination.


Book Borrowing after Deposit of University Examination Fees: If any student desires to borrow books from the library after depositing his/her university fees etc. for the final examination, he/she may be allowed to do so, provided he/she is agreeable to deposit, and deposits the present price of the book which he/she proposes to borrow over above his/her library deposit. In any case, however, the book must be returned by the student concerned before taking delivery of the admit card from the college office.


Loss or Damage of Books: In the case of loss, damage, mutilation, pilferage and spoiling of books borrowed, the book must be replaced by new one, otherwise, the Principal/the competent authority, will recover the current price of the book with a charge of fine.



For breach of discipline, pilferage, mutification or any other act detrimental to the library service, the librarian is empowered to cancel the membership of the student concerned.
