The history of the Department of Mathematics of Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College dates as far back as the year 1969. The under-graduate course in B.A./B.Sc (Pass Course) begins in this college in the year 1969 on receiving the affiliation of the course from Calcutta University with Mathematics as a compulsory subject in B.Sc Pass Course.

A large number of students passed B.Sc. from this college with Mathematics as a principal subject during the last thirty years 1969-'99. In the year 1999, the college obtained an extension of affiliation from pass course to Honours course in Mathematics. We have presently, three faculty members. The results of the last two years of B.Sc Part-I (Hons.), Part-II (Hons.) Examination are satisfactory.

The Department also organizes seminars in Mathematics, the students being the main speakers on different topics, pre-assigned to them by the faculty members.
