The department of Economics was there in the college from its inception. Economics was taught as a subject of Commerce both in General and Honours. Economics as B.A./B.Sc. general subject was also there from the beginning. Economic honours was introduced in 2001. The department has three sanctioned posts, and at present there are three full-timed teachers. The department has its own seminar library with many books which are given to the students whenever they need them. Apart from the conventional teaching method, the department organises seminars, debates, group discussions participated by the students.
