The department of Philosophy started with the pass course at the undergraduate level in 1965 with one lecturer Prof. Asit Sen. Then Dr. Amarnath Bhattacharya joined the department. The affiliation for the honours course was granted by C.U. in the academic session 2004-2005.The course has an intake capacity of 25 students.

There are lot of previous years test questions and university questions and some different problems descussion.........

The honours course of the department is still in its embroynic stage and is being nurtured with great care. In this short span of time, the students have already put up a wall magazine.They are sincere, serious and dedicated and take part in various quizzes,competitions,sports,debates etc. organised by the college.Seminars and inter-disciplinary classes with other departments too are conducted. We sincerely hope to progress in the pursuit of excellence.
